The Museum’s Spitfire reached a major milestone when the museum received its “new to us” Merlin 68.
There is still a long journey ahead before our Spitfire is fully operational, but this recent progress has certainly injected new energy into the project. For now, the engine will remain mounted on its stand, serving as a focal point and a powerful reminder of the work still to come. It symbolizes our dedication and the collective effort needed to bring this historic aircraft back to life.
The path forward involves a complete disassembly and meticulous rebuild of the engine to restore its original condition. Only then will we hear the iconic roar of the Merlin engine that once powered this legendary aircraft.
We invite you to be a part of this remarkable restoration journey. Your support can help bring history to life and preserve the legacy of the Spitfire for future generations. To contribute, please visit the link below to donate to the museum’s Spitfire project: Donate to the Spitfire Project.
